I just edited it, hope you find it satisfying. I just don't want to promote the idea that the more you take of an "entheogenic substance", the more likely to have a spiritual experience. I actually believe this puts too much emphasis on the dose of a substance and not enough on set, setting and other factors.

"Entheogen" comes from theos (god) and genesthai ("happen," "occurence"). The plant-based definition was introduced by R. Gordon Wasson, Jonathan Ott, et al. in 1970. In modern times, entheogens include all substances inducing a feeling of transcendent unity, less often referred to as "contact with god." I personally disagree with the existence of a "higher other."
