Conversion of CBD to THC with zeolite

THC produced from converted CBD is very potent

It is nearly impossible to guesstimate the potency from home-made extraction, but even low potent extract significantly increases the risk of a psychosis compared to consumption of potent cannabis buds. However, synthetic cannabinoids, unlike natural psychoactive ones like THC, have been attributed to significantly more deaths, with cases like MDMB-FUBINACA exceeding 1,000 hospitalizations and 40 deaths.

Zeolite is a type of microporous aluminum silicon that contains negatively charged anions. When CBD is heated to around 100°C, these anions attract the CBD molecules and cause them to rotate, similar to the effect of acids.

Expect the CBD to isomerize to maximum 10% THC with this tek.

Materials

  • 1 g CBD
  • 500 mg zeolite in the form of analcime, chabazite, clinoptilolite, erionite, mordenite, phillipsite, or ferrierite.
  • 13 mm diameter non-sterile syringe filter with a 0.22 µm pore size hydrophilic PVDF membrane.
  • 13 mm diameter non-sterile syringe filter with a 0.45 µm pore size hydrophilic PVDF membrane.
  • 13 mm diameter non-sterile syringe filter with a 0.02 µm pore size hydrophilic PVDF membrane.

Procedures

  • Mix the zeolite powder
  • Heat it at 130 Celsius for 10 minutes. A simple glass beaker on a typical hob plate has been used (see this video, however, ideally a temperature regulated magnet stirrer is used.
  • Let the solution cool.
  • Dissolve it with 10 grams isopropyl alcohol (IPA), to make a liquid solution.
  • Aluminum compounds should not be smoked nor ingested. Let the zeolite sediment. If you are eager, filter the zeolite.
    • Pre-filter: 13 mm diameter non-sterile syringe filter with a 0.45 µm pore size hydrophilic PVDF membrane
    • Filter: 13 mm diameter non-sterile syringe filter with a 0.22 µm pore size hydrophilic PVDF membrane
    • Filter: 13 mm diameter non-sterile syringe filter with a 0.02 µm pore size hydrophilic PVDF membrane
  • Add 20 grams seed oil (for example sunflower oil) if you are going to ingest it.
  • Evaporate the IPA.
