Baeocystin is one of the four psychedelic alkaloids found in psilocybin mushrooms, alongside Norbaeocystin, Psilocin, and Psilocybin.

Little is known about the pharmacology of this alkaloid due primarily to the prohibition of psilocybin mushrooms. Traces of Baeocystin are present in all psilocybe species, especially in the mushroom Psilocybe Baeocystis from which the molecule derived its name in 1967.

Baeocystin and Norbaeocystin are both active psychedelics.[1]
